Huntington Park rent stabilization resources
Huntington Park adopted Ordinance No. 2024-05, adding Chapter 21 (Rent Stabilization) to Title 8 of the Municipal Code. The City Council approved it November 18, 2024; it took effect December 19, 2024.
Current official-source position
What an owner should understand first.
Coverage, the allowable annual increase, security-deposit limits, just-cause grounds, and registration requirements are set by the ordinance itself and its administrative rules, which change. The City's Rent Stabilization Program page, not a summary written before or after a later amendment, is the current source, and every covered owner is required to register through the City's online registry.
A third-party rent-control aggregator, RentCheckMe, publishes a Huntington Park guide stating the City has no local rent stabilization or rent control ordinance. That page is current as of this writing. Huntington Park's own municipal code says otherwise, in effect since December 2024. This is exactly why this library links only to the governing city's own official page rather than to aggregator summaries: a confident-looking secondary source can be flatly wrong, and an owner who trusted it instead of the ordinance would be acting on the opposite of the truth.
The ordinance took effect December 19, 2024 — after that date, treating Huntington Park as unregulated is checking against the wrong fact.
Every covered rental unit must be registered with the City, or its exemption claimed, through the online registry.
The City's program page, not a third-party rent-control aggregator, is the current source for the allowable increase and coverage rules.
Just-cause eviction grounds and relocation requirements apply under the ordinance in addition to state law.
Before changing a tenancy
Five checks before action.
A broker can identify sale and valuation implications. An attorney or appropriate housing professional should evaluate the legal facts and documents.
- 01Confirm the unit's coverage and any exemption
- 02Verify registry status before any rent change
- 03Check the current City-posted allowable increase
- 04Review the ordinance's just-cause and relocation provisions
- 05Have notices and increases reviewed before acting
